Publisher. In the Retelling is published by Considered Ideas Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (Company No. 17258515) with its registered office at 66 Paul Street, London EC2A 4NA. For questions about these Terms, please write to enquiries@consideredideas.com.

These Terms apply to your use of In the Retelling, an app offering short literary reflections and quote-based prompts for personal enjoyment and contemplation.

By using In the Retelling, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

1. Relationship with Apple's terms

The app is distributed through the Apple App Store. Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement, the Apple EULA, available at https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/, applies to your use of the app.

These Terms are intended to supplement the Apple EULA with product-specific points relating to In the Retelling, such as the use of the bundled quote library and the nature of the reflections the app provides. They do not replace the Apple EULA.

Where these Terms and the Apple EULA conflict, the Apple EULA takes precedence. Where these Terms address matters that the Apple EULA does not, these Terms apply.

Nothing in these Terms or in the Apple EULA removes any rights you have under mandatory consumer protection laws in the country in which you bought or use the app.

2. What the app is

In the Retelling provides quotes, reflection prompts, saved reflections, reminders, recently seen reflections, and related features. The app is intended for personal, reflective, literary and educational use.

3. What the app is not

In the Retelling does not provide medical, psychological, legal, financial, religious, therapeutic, or other professional advice.

Nothing in the app should be treated as a substitute for advice from a qualified professional. You remain responsible for how you interpret or act on any quote, reflection prompt, or other content in the app.

The app is not intended to produce any particular emotional, personal, educational, or wellbeing outcome.

If you need urgent help, contact emergency services or an appropriate support service in your country.

4. Quotes and content

We seek to include only quotes that we reasonably believe are in the public domain, or otherwise lawful to use.

We make reasonable efforts to present quotes accurately, but we do not guarantee that every attribution, source detail, wording, translation, or editorial note is free from error.

If you believe any content in the app has been included in error or infringes your rights, please contact us so we can review it.

You may use the app for personal purposes.

The underlying quote texts are in the public domain. The selection, arrangement, missing-word prompts, metadata, design, code, and original copy of In the Retelling are owned by Considered Ideas Ltd and are protected by copyright and other intellectual property rights.

You may not copy, scrape, republish, sell, or systematically extract the app's quote collection, prompts, design, interface, or other content without permission, except where the law allows.

5. Your use of the app

You agree not to misuse the app, interfere with its operation, attempt to reverse engineer it except where the law allows, or use it in a way that infringes the rights of others.

You also agree not to use the app or its contents for unlawful, harmful, commercial extraction, or automated scraping purposes.

6. Sharing

The app provides a sharing feature that lets you send a quote, its attribution, and a link to the app's listing to other people using your device's standard share sheet. When you share content this way, you do so under your own choice and using your own messaging or other services, and we are not party to that sharing. We have no control over how recipients use or interpret what you share, so choosing what to send, to whom, and in what context is your responsibility.

7. Saved reflections and local data

The app may let you save reflections, view recently seen reflections, choose categories, set reminder preferences, and store shown-history.

In v1, this information is intended to be stored locally on your device.

If you delete the app, reset your device, clear app data, or move to a new device without restoring from backup, this information may be lost.

8. Reminders

If you enable reminders, the app may schedule local notifications on your device.

Delivery of reminders may depend on your device settings, notification permissions, Focus modes, Do Not Disturb, operating system behaviour, battery settings, and other factors outside our control.

You can disable reminders in the app or through your device settings.

9. Availability and changes

We may update, change, or discontinue parts of the app where reasonably necessary, for example to improve functionality, maintain compatibility, address errors, or comply with legal requirements.

We do not promise that the app will remain available for download, receive updates, or remain compatible with future versions of iOS, devices, or App Store requirements indefinitely.

We will try to keep the app reliable, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation.

10. Purchases and refunds

If the app is sold through the Apple App Store, purchases, refunds, cancellations, subscriptions, and billing are handled by Apple under Apple's own terms and policies.

You should contact Apple for App Store purchase or refund issues unless the App Store directs you otherwise.

11. Liability

Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes liability where the law does not allow it, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, or your statutory consumer rights.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, In the Retelling is provided for personal reflective use and we are not responsible for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential losses arising from use of the app, including loss of data, loss arising from missed or delayed reminders, or loss arising from reliance on quotes, prompts, or other app content.

12. Privacy

Your use of the app is also covered by our Privacy Notice, which explains what data is collected, stored, or used.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, unless mandatory consumer protection laws in your country require otherwise.
